Bach to Rock, America’s music school for students of all ages, proudly announces that its Beat Refinery DJ school has earned Serato certification, making it one of only two music school brands in the United States and four worldwide to offer the elite training developed by Serato. Serato, founded in 1999, is the premier provider of audio software to the DJ industry.  The Serato certification ensures that select Bach to Rock DJ instructors have been trained and authorized to teach using Serato software and equipment. Students attending a certified Bach to Rock Beat Refinery school will have exclusive access to Serato software and tools to learn cutting-edge techniques and a variety of DJ styles. Serato is recognized internationally as a leader in providing highly efficient and readily-used audio software.

Spearheading the relationship with Serato was Chris Stiles, also known as Stylus Chris, who has been a DJ for over 20 years, and is the co-founder of Bach to Rock’s Beat Refinery DJ school, along with Brian Sadiarin, a.k.a. DJ Geometrix, who is also a well-known DJ in the Washington, D.C. area. “Bach to Rock’s Serato certification means Beat Refinery students can be confident they are learning from the most knowledgeable and experienced DJs, with the latest software technology and cutting-edge equipment at their fingertips,” said Stiles.  “With Serato, Bach to Rock has a partner that shares our belief in preserving the DJ culture, which is very empowering.  We are able to grow and continue to provide innovation and excellence for new and aspiring DJs, or current professionals who wish to take their career to the next level,” continued Stiles.

“Serato is the most recognized audio software in the business and offers DJs maximum flexibility to play all types of music at any time,” said Brian Gross, president of Bach to Rock. “They are visionaries and leaders in the DJ industry, and we are so proud to partner with them to bring such a high caliber experience to our Beat Refinery students.” Bach to Rock Beat Refinery DJ lessons are also available online, so regardless of a student’s location or schedule, access to a Serato certified instructor is only a few clicks away.

Bach to Rock Music School Announces New School Opening in Zionsville, IN

Bach to Rock, America’s music school for students of all ages, proudly announces it is opening a new school in Zionsville, Indiana. The community is invited to the free grand opening on July 31, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at 10895 N. Michigan Road, Suite 100, Zionsville, IN, 46077. Attendees are welcome to tour the school, enjoy a free music lesson, learn about individual lessons and group classes, try out free toddler “Mommy and Me” classes, enter prize drawings and giveaways, check out the recording studio, and enjoy performances by instructors.  The school will serve students from (but not limited to) Zionsville, West Carmel, Whitestown, Brownsburg and Indianapolis North.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of our newest school in Zionsville. It is a big undertaking to open a school, however, this is the third school in the Indianapolis area owned by rock-star franchisees Andy and Jennifer Flickner. And they tackled it during the pandemic,” said President of Bach to Rock, Brian Gross. “The Flickners showed remarkable persistence and resilience as they navigated numerous delays. I am confident they will continue to help more and more students thrive as they bring the innovative Bach to Rock method of music instruction to students in Zionville,” Gross continued.

Meet Three-Time Bach to Rock Franchisees Andy and Jennifer Flickner

Andy and Jennifer Flickner own two other Bach to Rock music schools in the Indianapolis area.  Their first, in Carmel, opened in 2018 and earlier this year, they opened their second school in Fishers, which is co-owned with franchisee partner Kellie Miles-Fink. “We are thrilled to launch our third school in just three years. Pandemic-related delays impacted the timing of the new school, but we overcame and are so proud to extend the Bach to Rock experience to families in Zionsville,” said Andy Flickner.  “We attribute much of our success to our great staff, teamwork and our welcoming school culture,” said Jennifer Flickner.  The Flickners have been featured in Franchising USA Magazine, and profiled on Bach to Rock’s website.

Bach to Rock Zionsville offers programs for students of all ages including: individual and group lessons in piano, voice, guitar, drums and more; “Rock City” for preschoolers; beginning piano “Kids n Keys” for children in grades K-2; and summer camps and birthday parties. The school also features the Beat Refinery DJ school, which offers mixing, scratching, and music production classes.  Plus, students can get involved in a glee club or rock band

In a fierce competition at the 2019 Bach to Rock Battle of the Bands, 36 bands went head-to-head at City Winery in New York City on Sunday, June 9.

Over 800 proud parents, family members and fans came to support and cheer on students from Bach to Rock Port Washington, Bach to Rock Mamaroneck and Bach to Rock Nanuet.

The groups performed in both the Main Space and The Loft at City Winery and rocked the iconic hotspot.

“The students, who range in age from 7 to 18, and their band coaches worked tirelessly for months to prepare for this tremendous event and I’m beyond proud of all the performers,” said Bach to Rock Port Washington Director Elana Hayden. “While this is a competition, the main point is for the kids to have a great experience, to get to perform in a top New York City venue – and to have fun and feel like a rock star!”

Six seasoned music industry professionals, Carolee Goodgold (Carly Simon), John Miller (Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer (Lady Gaga, Dr. John), Cameron Rasmussen (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway), Jason Reese (Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti) and Wayne Schuster (Blood, Sweat, and Tears) judged the performances.

Over 150 students performed on stages that have hosted Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega, Joan Osborne, Taj Mahal, Patti Smith, and Buster Poindexter to name a few.

The bands were scored on several criteria including musical ability, technical ability, stage presence, material, creativity, and professionalism. All the competitors study a variety of musical disciplines at Bach to Rock music school, including music theory, instrument instruction, recording arts, performance arts, voice lessons and band coaching.

This is our student of the month: Indica! She has been playing piano for one year now! When she isn't playing music, she enjoys biking and disc golf. A fun fact about Indica is that her name means "night star princess protected by wolves". Her favorite thing about being a part of Bach to Rock is singing with her band Purple Nightmare, as well as playing piano with her mom who also takes lessons here. Congrats Indica!
